From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
